Happy birthday Corrie

We had a quiet birthday at home.  Since we don’t live close enough to family to have them over for the evening we improvised.  We placed a 3 way call between my parents, John’s parents, and us and they sang me happy birthday!  How sweet!
Oh and john also got me this awesome cookie cake!

My Birthday at Grandma's

I enjoyed a wonderful weekend at my grandparents house.  We celebrated my 27th birthday with my family.  We spent time at Incredible Pizza with my cousins, and then ventured over to the Texas Zoo in Victoria TX.  I love birthdays with family, they are so special.

Countdown to Summer - 7 weeks

I love teaching.  Not only do you get to impact lives every day, but you also get an well needed break after your exhausted from your efforts.   This past  year we had the privilege of moving and teaching summer school during our summer vacation.  This  summer will be filled with long days of disc golf, geocaching, astros games, knitting, swimming, and all sorts of summer fun.  No moving boxes required.
Currently there are seven weeks left of school.

Reunion of Friends

This weekend we were blessed to spend time with our friends Katherine and Tim Clymer, the Tucker family, and the Strong family.  We were able to catch up like we had never even missed a beat.
Some highlights of the day include:
  • Incredible meals cooked by Connie (if only she were 5 years younger)
  • Fellowship with friends
  • Seeing a bald eagles nest through binoculars
  • Hitting golf balls at the driving range (one of John’s favorite things)
  • Watching the Tucker family dance moves

I think we might have a new hobby

After watching my brother play disc golf last weekend John decided that this could be a hobby that we could get into.  So, he picked up some used disc golf disc from Play it Again Sports, and off we went. We ventured out to Tom Bass park and tried out our skills.  Turns out we aren’t very good, but we sure had a lot of fun.  Selah had the most fun, running in the tall grass, swimming in the creek, and stealing our discs from us.

Disc Golf vs. miniature golf

This weekend was a busy one at the Portier household.  We had not one overnight guest, but three.  Count em!  Our weekend guests were my brother Joel and his friend Mike who came up for the weekend to play in a disc golf tournament here in Missouri City and John’s good friend Kendall who came into town for a visit.  Oh and by the way, we have no guest bedroom!  It was an air mattress city here on our floor, but we were more than happy to share our carpet space.

Weekend highlights include:
  • Dinner Friday night at the rooster mexican restaurant with Kendall and Christiana
  • Waking up early Saturday morning to tutor at QVE
  • Playing and beating John and Kendall at miniature golf at Fun Tiki
  • Visiting Millie Bush Bark Park with Selah
  • Joining Sugar Creek Baptist and lunch to learn about the church afterwards
  • Hiking all across the Quail Valley golf course to find Joel and then getting to watch him play disc golf for the first time.
