5th grade field trip to Minute maid park

Finally after a years worth of hard work we are able to take a field trip.  Our 5th grade class got to go to Minute Maid Park and Discovery Green.  Discovery Green is this really great little park right near Minute Maid, and it’s theme is “green” as in recycling, solar energy, and whatnot.  We went to Discovery Green first and the students got to play around in the park, running, and jumping, and eventually playing in their interactive fountains.  We all ate lunch their, and then headed over to Minute Maid.
We received a tour of the park, where we were able to sit in the dugouts, and in the press box, but were under no circumstances able to touch the grass.  It’s sacred ground apparently.  John was able to go as a chaperone, and had his own group of guys to look after all day.  I enjoyed having him along.     We were really grateful to happen too because we were short on adult chaperones.
When I was in school it seemed like we were taking field trips several times a year.  We went to the buttercrust bread factory, the museum of science and history, the christmas tree forest, the skating rink for good behavior... and that’s just a few that I can think of off the top of my head.  I wish I could find a way to take my kids on more trips throughout the year.
